Privacy Policy

In short: we collect only what is needed to make and manage bookings. We share your name, phone number and booking details with the shop you book with. We do not sell your information.

1. Who we are

BOOK.NOW is an online booking platform that connects customers with local businesses such as barbershops, salons and shisanyama spots. BOOK.NOW is the “responsible party” for the personal information described below under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). 2. What we collect

Customers who book:

your name and phone number;
booking details: the service, date, time, number of guests, payment method and payment reference.

Business owners (partners):

your email address and password (passwords are handled by our secure sign-in provider and are never visible to us);
business details: name, category, address, contact number, opening hours, photos, services and prices;
the bank account details you choose to show customers so they can pay you by EFT;
proofs of payment you upload for your BOOK.NOW subscription, and records of subscription payments.

We do not ask for your ID number, and we do not collect payment card details.

3. Why we use it

to create, show, change and cancel bookings;
to let the shop you booked with know who is coming and when;
to check subscription payments and run partner accounts;
to keep the platform secure and prevent abuse;
to respond to your questions and to meet legal obligations.

4. Who can see your information

The shop you book with sees your name, phone number and booking details. The shop is responsible for how it uses that information once it has it.
BOOK.NOW administrators can see bookings and partner records so we can run and support the platform.
Service providers that host our system: Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage) and GitHub Pages (website hosting).
Your browser also loads fonts and code libraries from Google Fonts, unpkg and jsDelivr, and sample pictures from Unsplash. These companies may receive your IP address and device details as part of normal web requests.
WhatsApp: when you tap a WhatsApp button, your message is handled by WhatsApp under its own terms.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

5. Where it is stored

Our database is hosted by Supabase in Ireland (the European Union). By using BOOK.NOW you understand that your information is processed there. We choose providers that use reasonable security measures.

6. How long we keep it

We keep booking and account records for as long as they are needed to run the service, keep financial and dispute records, and meet legal duties. You can ask us to delete your information (see section 8).

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls so that business owners can only see their own shop’s bookings. No online system is completely risk-free. If there is a security breach that affects you, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as the law requires.

8. Your rights

You may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You may also object to how we use it. Email mfanarhshange43@gmail.com or call or WhatsApp 075 297 8917. We may need to confirm who you are first, and some information must be kept if the law requires it.

If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

9. Browser storage

We use your browser’s storage only to keep business owners signed in and to remember small settings, such as whether new-booking sounds are on. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking.

10. Children

BOOK.NOW is meant for adults. A person under 18 should only use it with a parent or guardian.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make an important change, we will tell business owners in the partner portal.
